Call for papers: “Memorials in the Age of the Anthropocene”
“Memorials in the Age of the Anthropocene” is organized by the Department of History, Adam Mickiewicz University at Poznan, Poland.
The aim of the conference is to create a forum for the researchers, artists and architects, who deal with the question of memorials that suppose to open up the space for the new discussion considering new approaches to memorials. We encourage participants to deal with such issues as: posthumanism, biohumanism, materiality, decomposition, ruination, ecosphere, anthropocene, affect or new totemism.
Key speakers of the conference are Professor Krzysztof Wodiczko (Harvard University, USA) and Professor Erika Doss (University of Notre Dame, USA).
The conference is being held on October 16-17th 2014. The deadline for the abstract submission is June 30th 2014. More information can be found in the call for papers that is enclosed.
